The enthralling stories
of the lads I’ve met
in the city of furies
where dirtbags pirouette
in time to the howls
of a blizzard in despair
Marched cheek by jowl
incoherent as they were
The million eyes
that had time to regret
the days which grow wise
as she claimed her head
was saved by loons
who were doomed to care
and look after the moons
incoherent as they were
In a shot framed wide
wider than what she’d claim
Her sorrows magnified
thoughts of fortune and fame
in appalling manifestos
which reasons were fair
to be held as a memento
incoherent as they were
A flickering light
palm tree debris everywhere
Yet the stars are in sight
in every crowded street I stare
The first watch of night
the spokesman and his fanfare
What a tremulous delight!
Incoherent as they were.
